Ministries

What are Ministries?

Ministries are the serving teams, departments, or groups within your church (for example: Worship Team, Hospitality, Children's Ministry, Small Groups).

OnArk uses them in two ways:

1. Ministry suggestion in forms — Form sections can feature a ministries field that allows guests to express interest in specific teams.
2. Assessment-based matching — Ministries can connect to Spiritual Gifts, DISC, or Enneagram assessment results, enabling OnArk to recommend relevant ministries based on guest assessments.

The Ministries list

The Ministries page displays all church ministries in a grid format. You can search by name, sort by creation date or name, and click individual ministry cards to edit them.

Creating a ministry

To add a new ministry, navigate to Admin → Ministries and click Add Ministry. The system creates an Untitled Ministry and opens the editor immediately.

Editing a ministry

The ministry editor contains these auto-saving fields:

• Ministry name — displayed to guests in form fields and reports
• Ministry description — shown when guests browse ministries
• Assessment result type links — connect to Enneagram types, Spiritual Gifts, or DISC combinations

Click Delete Ministry in the navigation bar and confirm deletion.

How ministries appear to guests

In form sections

Guests see ministry listings with descriptions and can indicate interest through the Ministry / Team Suggestion field.

Assessment-based suggestions

When a guest's assessment results match a ministry's linked result types, OnArk shows that ministry under Suggested Ministries — inside the Ministries form field.

To get suggestions in front of guests, you need both halves:

   Link each ministry to the assessment results it fits (in the ministry editor, or from the Test section's settings modal).

2. 2

   In the class, add a Form section after the Test section and add the Ministries question to it (under the Selection group in the question picker).

   Republish the class.

Guests who finish the test then see "Suggested Ministries — based on your test results," listing only the ministries linked to their top results.

How matching works

There is no percentage, score, or threshold behind the suggestions. It is a simple match: a ministry appears in Suggested Ministries when it is linked to at least one of the guest's top results. A ministry does not need to match all of their results, and matching two results does not rank it higher than matching one. The list is not ranked or weighted.

For example, say a guest's Spiritual Gifts results are Teaching, Hospitality, and Mercy:

• A Kids ministry linked to Teaching is suggested.
• A Greeters ministry linked to Hospitality and Mercy is suggested too, but not any higher than Kids.
• A Worship ministry linked only to Music is not suggested, because none of the guest's results match.

The more result types you link to a ministry, the more guests it will be suggested to. If a ministry shows up for almost everyone, trim its links to make it more selective.

Common questions

Do I need to set up ministries before creating classes?

No — ministries can be added at any time.

Can one ministry link to multiple assessment types?

Yes, ministries can link to any number of result types.

Can one result type link to multiple ministries?

Yes. For example, "Leadership" could link to both Small Groups and Leadership Development ministries.

I linked my ministries to assessment results, but guests don't see any suggestions. What's missing?

The class needs a Ministries question for the suggestions to appear in. Add a Form section after your Test section, add the Ministries question to it, and republish. The test results screen alone never shows ministry suggestions.

Is there a percentage or score that decides which ministries are suggested?

No. A ministry is suggested when it is linked to at least one of the guest's top results, and the list is not ranked. See "How matching works" above for an example.

Can I use ministries without test sections?

Yes, the Ministry field works independently of assessments.

How many ministries can I add?

There's no limit.

What information do guests see?

Only the team description is visible; leader details remain admin-only.

What are leader name/email/phone fields for?

These support admin features and automations for notifying team leaders when guests select their ministry.

How do I notify a ministry leader?

Create an Email automation on the section containing the Ministry Team input, set the trigger to section completion, and add the leader's email as the recipient. See Automations.
